Vorkreist: Sigil whore christ
05/06/12 || gk
Vorkreist is a French black metal band consisting of members who play or have played in bands like Merrimack, Hell Militia, Secrets of the Moon and Blacklodge. Formed in 1999, this is the bands fourth album so there must be a loyal fanbase somewhere. Based on “Sigil Whore Christ” though, I really don’t understand the bands longevity or even their purpose. This is some bland and unremarkable black metal with occasional hints of death metal ala Behemoth turning up. Aren’t there enough bands doing this kind of thing already? To be fair, the band does have a few moments sprinkled throughout the album where they actually sound quite good and interesting. “Maledicte” is a good song with some changes in tempo that work quite well but this is a rare occurrence. The band mostly seems content to play boring and derivative music for a large part of this album. There’s nothing actively bad on “Sigil Whore Christ” but there’s very little that’s good.
5/10: Boring, so boring.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
